The Monk Who Sold His Ferrari | Robin S. Sharma: A Book Review

It's been so long that I read something that is very hard to put down. (Well I need to really put the book down and stop reading because life has obligations, obligations like I need to do the laundry! LOL!)

I was attracted to this book because I practice Zen as my way of life. I acknowledge that I am not a perfect human being, thus, I need help and I am hungry for wisdom, guidance and light. Only a really few, handful of people really understands "living in the now", Zen, Law of Attraction, everything-in-this-world-is-made-of-energy thing,  Buddhism and all those mystical vast wisdom and wonders of the East or something abstract-shocking as "we-are-living-in-a-simulation" kinda thing.

I know. I know. This is a lot to take in and you are maybe shocked with the "living in a simulation" thing and you must think of the Matrix starring the classic appeal of the handsome Keanu Reeves.

But that is another topic and should have another time to discuss because that one has a huge amount of complexities entangled in it and a very interesting topic of its own, and has my full respect.

Right now, I will merely describe my observations about this book. Describe because, if you wanna enrich yourself with the precious wisdom that you will be getting out from the book, you must read it. (Otherwise, I'll just copy paste the 208 pages and will not be writing this book review lol!) Kidding aside, describe, because the book has its juices of wisdom laid out and explained thoroughly through fables making it very easy to understand and doesn't need more explanations from me. The book in itself is a guiding light.

The cover has a nice uniqueness to it, the font  has a sort of Shaolin- Asian vibe to it that made me drawn to reading the book. It has some sort of nature vibe and river painted on the cover making it really simple and almost plain thus the words "Monk" and "Ferrari" stood out from the very simple background. That polarity. It ticked my curiosity as a reader. Clever. :-)

Now I already told you that I am really interested with all these mystical powers of our existence.  Those topics that are not discussed mostly on conversations with friends. (We all tend to discuss mundane everyday situations though getting agitated by some situations I see no point of. Why? As I progress on my readings and writings here in my blog you will understand)

I was very vocal that I was exposed to this world by my then boyfriend turned husband, Paolo Enrico last 2018 and I was practicing Zen since then, alleviating and taking control of my life and the profound reason why I am always happy or as a human being will say, I am always giving it my best to pursue happiness amidst all the crazy things that happened to me.

Opposition thinking.

And it was the greatest thing that happened to my mental health. As what is mentioned in this book,

"When the student is ready, the teacher will appear".

You will only decide. Have courage!

Then I began to realize that the books doesn't teach you anything new. Books like this magnify what you already know inside uncovering them by hammering the nail and on that last thud enlightening and blowing away your mind that this is a thing, its really happening, there is wisdom in it!

Then you are beginning to understand,

really understand.

I love that the book is such a novel type. A story telling which makes it easy to traverse. Injected with humor too from time to time. It was very easy to comprehend. It isn't a bore and its not a drag to finish. Parts will keep your interest from falling.

I also like that because it is told in a story telling manner, it is not written in a scholarly, academic fashion that will make me doze off. (I've read books like that, it's a drag but I need to finish it for all of the wisdom that I will get out of it. ) The book has simple yet powerful characters that are very easy to remember and the places described in a very vivid way making my imagination frolic in my senses joyfully.

The storyline and the progression of the story is simple yet captivating. Amazing how a book can teach while keeping you on your toes fiddling with your own learnings and wisdom saved over the years then you somehow opens up your share of wisdom and will reveal moments of "OH MY GOD, this is a thing?" Or like, "Ive known this but I didn't know that it is called like this" or "I have been doing this all along, I was right or the book says otherwise, I need correction."

The book teaches that we will uncover to living our lives to its highest dimension if we all learn to tap the powers of the mind. By training it. From money to spirituality issues. Everything in life is possible. The book taught me virtues and practical tips and mantras (even correcting the way I eat!) that I should practice everyday for us to live the life we always wanted and take control of it, not the other way around for us to live up to our highest potential.

And that is only the first teaching. There are lots more. The pages are screaming with glee and excitement!

I know, some people will also say Clarence what are you talking about? Cause I am aware that all of this will sound weird to some people but don't worry. Once people starts pursuing wisdom like this, then they will begin to understand. No matter what.

Those who understands Zen will raise their eyebrows on this book since there are contradictions. I understand and practice Zen too, but you see, I pick what I understand to be right and apply them to my life. Not just in Zen, it could be religion, a different way of life or a certain philosophy. (Though right and wrong is another philosophic and intriguing matter to discuss haha!) I believe that there is wisdom in everything and I love pursuing all there is to know about the mystical wonders of life leaving me refreshed, awakened and enlightened.

This book is a must read and I am writing this review and sharing this book to proliferate the wisdom of the Sages of Sivana to the world because Julian Mantle promised Yogi Raman that he will spread the wisdom of the Sages and help the people in our endless race against time and stressors of the world.

Because we are not meant to live like that. You can have the life that you are dreaming of.

It can happen.

It is within your grasp if you only decide.

It is very possible.

Thank you Mr. Robin Sharma for this totally breath taking book! This is God's gift to us humans through you! More Power!
